National and Regional Music, Drama and Fine Art Festivals
This year’s annual MDD, poetry and Fine Art festivals held at Kyambogo Unversity in July were another manifestation/ milestone on of the long journey travelled in the fight against HIV/AIDS through Behavior Change. Student participants from all over the country and from Primary going age to Vocational attending age, we indeed broke the silence. We emphasized the old and learnt new ways of showing love, care and support to the victims of HIV/AIDS. The overall school that showcased extraordinary talent in the above fields was Lubiri High School from the Western region walked away with the winners trophy. Bishop Cipriano Kihangire from the region as the first runners up and Children and Life Missions (CALM) from the central region as the second runners up. Pastor Martin Ssempa of Makerere Community Church thanked for the efforts of Youth Alive Uganda towards this cause. Uganda has the youngest population in the world. 79% of them are below 35 years of age, 45% of these school going young people are HIV positive and at the same time sexually active. Their sexual behavior needs to be guided and the gospel of BEHAVIOR CHANGE needs to reach everyone who needs it. Youth Alive Uganda is working towards achieving this in the shortest time possible.
