On Friday the 15th March 2008 we celebrated 25 years in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Uganda.
Due to the efforts of countless numbers of people including many youth the prevalence of HIV has greatly reduced - from 28% down to 6.2%. While we rejoice in this achievement we realize that much more needs to be done in order to eradicate the virus from society. Therefore I appeal to the youth to renew your efforts to promote abstinence and faithfulness in marriage. Medical scientific research has shown that abstinence and faithfulness are the very best strategies .
Your programmes of Education for Life and Character formation of Youth need to continue so that every youth in the country is protected. Membership of Youth Alive is not about a programme, it is about a lifestyle, one that gives witness to obedience to God’s Law
We also rejoice that Youth Alive which began in Uganda is now active in fourteen other African countries and continues to spread. We praise and thank God for this and give Him the glory. My prayer is that you continue to make responsible choices, and be an example to all believers in the way you speak and behave and in your love, your faith and your purity (1Tim 4:12) Youth Alive, It is time to act.
