Education for life is a
group problem solving process which aims at facilitating participants /
individuals to develop and internalise life planning skills that enhance
their capacity to avoid engaging in risky health behaviours such as
casual sex, taking drugs & drinking alcohol / substance abuse. This
programme has two phases in which the second phase builds on the first.
The activities in each phase include:
Phase One: Peer Development activities
Peer development activities aims at helping young people explore the
risky behaviours that they may be involved in and also facilitate them
to explore reasons / factors that lead to such behaviours. These
include;
-HIV/AIDS Sensitization seminars
-Behaviour change communication seminars for in - school and out -
of - school youth aged 13 - 35 years, which also serves as a group
counselling session.
-Adventure unlimited seminars for children aged 9 - 13 years aims
at equipping children (in upper primary) with life planning skills to
prepare them for the challenges and opportunities posed by adolescence.
Phase Two: Peer Sustainability activities
These activities aims at helping young people internalise life-planning
skills, values and adapt positive attitudes that lead to enduring
behaviour change. The main activities include;
-Enter - Education activities (such Music, Dance, Drama, information and Fine Art Festivals)
-Talks shows (in form of Debates and Discussions)
-Choose Freedom Seminars it is a life planning skills development
programme for young people aged 15 - 35years aims at facilitating young
people initiate change in the present risky health behaviours.
